Margriet Ehlen studeerde compositie, schoolmuziek, koordirectie en piano. Belangrijkste docenten in compositie waren Willem de Vries Robbé en Robert Heppener. Zij is als componist bekend in festivals in Nederland, Engeland, Rusland en Alaska. In haar visie is muziek de onderliggende dimensie van de tekst, die niet alleen door de componist maar ook door de uitvoerende wordt blootgelegd. Zij heeft verschillende composities op haar naam staan die zijn gebaseerd op oude teksten en muziek, bijvoorbeeld Graffitto (voor klavecimbel) en Euridyce (voor sopraan en fluitkwartet) en Antifoon (voor solo stem, geschreven voor sopraan, Janice Jackson).

Alice Ho is a freelance composer/pianist dedicated to new music. Born in Hong Kong, Ms Ho immigrated to Canada in 1982 where she makes her home in Toronto. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition (with high distinction) from Indiana University and a Masters of Music in Composition from University of Toronto. Ms Ho is the recipient of numerous awards including the 1999 MACRO International Composition Competition and the International League of Women Composers Competition. She is currently working on an opera The Imp of the Perverse with librettist Michael O'Brien and Tapestry New Opera Works.

Wende Bartley lives in Toronto and is a composer of electroacoustic music, writing in a variety of media, including concert music, computer music, soundtracks, and music for dance. She received her M. Mus. degree in composition from Montréal's McGill University and has worked in the studios at Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, and the Banff Centre for the Arts. Her works have been broadcast and performed at concerts and festivals throughout North America and Europe. In her creative work, she explores images important in the collective story of woman, developing new timbral boundaries while giving voice to women's cultural experience.

Barbara Woof studeerde compositie bij Peter Sculthorpe en muziekwetenschap aan de Universiteit van Sydney. In 1981 na het toekennen van een beurs van de universiteit is zij naar Nederland gekomen om haar compositie studies voort te zetten bij Peter Schat en Jan van Vlijmen alsmede elektroakoestische compositie bij Jan Boerman en studio-techniek op het Instituut voor Sonologie te Utrecht. In 1985 ontving zij de Martim Codax prijs voor haar tape compositie "Syzygy" Sinds 1988 is zij als docent verbonden bij de faculteit Kunst, Media en Technologie van de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht.

Janice Jackson graduated from the Utrecht Conservatoire (Netherlands) in 1990 with a Commendation for her interpretation of 20th century music. Since then, she has been in great demand as an interpreter of modern music. She has sung in modern music festivals and concert halls internationally, including Wien Modern (Vienna), The Proms (Amsterdam), IRCAM (Paris), and Big Torino 2000 (Turin). Recently she has performed 4 world premieres, 2 in the Scotia Festival, another with Array Music, Toronto in May, 2001 and another in Denmark’s Diem Festival, June 2001. For the 2001 – 2002 concert season she is the Musician in Residence with Halifax’s St. Cecilia Concert Series where she is presenting 6 concerts including a new world premiere of a piece by Canadian Composer Emily Doolittle (along with pianist Eve Egoyan). Her 20th century repertoire ranges from Berio, Cage, and Nono to Schönberg, Webern, and Dallapiccola. She has performed more than 70 wo rld premieres, many written specifically for her. In 1995, she sang the world premiere of Orpheus, a work for soprano and orchestra by Greek composer Theo Abazis, with the Stuttgart State Ballet. In 1997, Jackson premiered Travelings, a touring program of five solo pieces based on the ancient classical music of France, Netherlands, India, Japan, and Byzantium, each written specifically for her by a different composer. Her recent (2000) solo concert series, Out There and Beyond, consisted of true vocal acrobatic works to pure theatre and provided her with an opportunity to make her Toronto debut in the Music Gallery. Jackson is currently a member of several modern music ensembles including the Schreck Ensemble for Electroacoustic Music (Amsterdam), the Upstream Orchestra.
